I’ve received a number of requests from people in the Detroit and Ann Arbor area not involved in the martial arts to write about how to find a style or art that is right for them. It is no easy answer, and is dependent on many variables. Over the several articles, I’ll address some of the factors I’ve found that help martial artists decide, what advantages I’ve seen, and what I think keeps people coming back to class over the years.
